Certified Trust PractitionerTM Accreditation Program
A new accreditation program is being launched by the Hong Kong Trustees’ Association on 1 July 2018. The accreditation program is the first in Hong Kong and is being introduced in order to:
- develop talent within the trust and fiduciary services industries in Hong Kong in a systematic manner;
- set minimum professional standards within the trust industry;
- encourage new entrants to the industry and provide a platform for opportunities of career advancement; and
- promote confidence of clients, financial service sectors and regulatory bodies in fiduciary services through setting professional standards and competency of individuals working in the trust industry.
The accreditation will confer a Certified Trust Practitioner™ designation to individuals who have successfully attained the accreditation requirements.
Accreditation Requirements
Certified Trust Practitioner™designation will be awarded to individual members of the Hong Kong Trustees’ Association who have satisfied the Certification, Experience and Membership requirements.

The Trust Training Certificate Course by the HKTA in conjunction with the Hong Kong Securities and Investment Institute to bridge the knowledge gap. It is the first trust training course in Hong Kong with comprehensive coverage of topics including compliance, estate planning, family office, collective investment schemes and retirement schemes (MPF/ORSO) and comparison of HK with other trust jurisdictions.

Part A is expanded to increase coverage on corporate trusts, funds and pensions and to update relevant regulatory regimes, such as the new HKMA Code of Practice for Trust Business and the new SFC Regulated Activity type 13 (“RA13”) requirements for conducting the SFC authorized CIS depositaries.

Examination framework
There are separate exams for Part A and Part B Stream 1 and Part B stream 2. Students need to attend the course lectures to sit the examinations. A student who has completed Part A or Part B of the course may defer sitting the examination for a maximum period of 3 years counting from the first unit attended up to the examination date for each Part. After 3 years, the student will be required to re-enrol and undertake the course again in order to sit the examination.
The examination for each part is scheduled twice a year, with one retake examination available for each session. The examination is a 90 minutes computer based examination for each part. It conists of 60 of Multiple-choice Questions in English. The pass mark is 70%.
Candidates can view their grade in the examination system immediately after the respective examination session.
Candidates can download and print the Notification of Results and Performance Analysis from the HKSI Institute Online Portal approximately 24 hours after each examination. If candidates cannot obtain their Notification of Results from the Online Portal within one day of the aforementioned timeframe, please contact the Institute at exam@hksi.org.
Award
Collectively all units completed from Part A and 7 completed units from Part B, form the full course. To be awarded the Trust Training Certificate, individuals are required to complete all seven units of corresponding TTC Course within three years, counting from the first unit attended up to 5 working days before sitting the examination and the Part A and Part B of TTC Examination within six years from the date of the first class of TTC course.
The Trust Training Certificate will be available 4-6 weeks after passing both Part A and B examinations. An email notification will be sent to you regarding the collection of your certificate. Candidates should keep their certificates safely, since the HKTA and HKSI Institute will NOT reissue certificate.

Remarks:
- Individuals are required to complete all 7 syllabus units of above corresponding TTC Programme within 3 years - counting from the 1st syllabus unit attended to the examination date, before sitting for the TTC Examination.
- Effective 8 August 2024, online enrolment and scheduling for computer-based examination (CBE) are separate. All computer-based exam candidates MUST schedule their exam. TTC exam candidates should refer to Step 2 of the Scheduling Guide for procedures.
- Examination candidates are required to complete all Part A units (as stated above) before 25 May 2025 (Sunday), 23:59, otherwise they might not be allowed to sit for the examination on 2 June 2025.
- Examination candidates are required to complete all Part B Stream 1 units (as stated above) before 26 May 2025 (Monday), 23:59, otherwise they might not be allowed to sit for the examination on 3 June 2025.
- Examination candidates are required to complete all Part B Stream 2 units (as stated above) before 27 May 2025 (Monday), 23:59, otherwise they might not be allowed to sit for the examination on 4 June 2025.

Financial Incentive Scheme of the WAM Pilot Programme
This course has been approved as an eligible course of the Financial Incentive Scheme for Professional Training under the Pilot Programme to Enhance Talent Training for the Asset and Wealth Management Sector. Under the Scheme, each eligible participant will be reimbursed 80% of course fees upon satisfactory completion of eligible courses, subject to a cap of $15,000 per person for the entire duration of the Scheme (i.e. from 1 October 2016 to 31 March 2026). Regarding the details of eligible criteria and application procedures, please refer to the dedicated website of the Pilot Programme (https://www.wamtalent.org.hk/eng/professional_training/overview.html).
Participants must attend all the units of each part of the training course to sit for the examination. Participants who do not pass the post-training examination must retake and pass the re-examination within 1 month from the date of his/her first examination to qualify for the reimbursement. Participants can choose to take either Part A or Part B (Stream 1/2), or both, and will be eligible for reimbursement once they meet the completion requirements. For Part B, reimbursement is applicable only to the selection of one stream (either Stream 1 or Stream 2), not both.

Continuous Professional Training (CPT) Recognition
Upon successful completion of each unit, the participant will gain the equivalent 3 CPT / OPT / CPD hours recognised by the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), the Law Society of Hong Kong (Law Society), Private Wealth Management Association (PWMA) and Hong Kong Trustees' Association (HKTA). Unit 21 & 22 are also approved by the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA ) as 3 Core CPD hours for each unit.

The in-class lectures will be conducted in English and all course material will be in English.
