Formal Launch of the AEOI Portal
03 Jul 2017The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) formally rolled out the AEOI Portal today.
Now, through the AEOI Portal at http://aeoi2.ird.gov.hk/portal/landing/, a financial institution can:
(a) register an AEOI Account;
(b) view and update its account profile;
(c) submit notifications of:
(i) commencement of maintaining reportable accounts;
(ii) cessation of maintaining reportable accounts;
(iii) recommencement of maintaining reportable accounts;
(iv) change of address;
(d) receive or send messages in relation to the reporting of financial account information.
Later in the year, the AEOI Portal will provide additional functions allowing financial institutions to:
(a) submit test data files;
(b) prepare data files by the Data Preparation Tool;
(c) encrypt data files by the Encryption Tool;
(d) upload data files;
(e) file Financial Account Information Returns.
If you are financial institutions maintaining reportable accounts before 3 July 2017, you are required to:
(a) register an account under the AEOI Portal; and
(b) submit a notification of commencement of maintaining reportable accounts
Not later than 3 October 2017 to fulfil your obligations.
