The Principles, which are voluntary, are intended to apply to investors who invest money or hold shares on behalf of clients or stakeholders to whom they are accountable. These can include Trustees.
As such, HKTA members are invited to note the 7 Principals and their application to trustees as investors who
(1) invest money, or hold shares, on behalf of clients and other stakeholders and are accountable to such clients and other stakeholders;
(2) hold or receive funds from the public that are invested in shares of Hong Kong listed companies.
Investors who do not think that the Principles are relevant or suitable for them are encouraged to provide their stakeholders with disclosure which clearly explains why the Principles have not been adopted at the outset and, if applicable, explain what alternative measures they have in place."
